Thanksgiving!

It has been a looooong time since I last posted! Honestly, I only did two batches since May. One was in the summer and they were flowers and flip flops (which were painfully cute, but I didn't have a camera with me) and in October I did more bridal shower cookies. They were the same as the ones posted on here except instead of being blue and white, they were black and white. Very, very pretty.

However, I am here now =) With Thanksgiving cookies! YUM - I tell you, these things smell so good it's hard to control myself around them If I had it my way I would just eat them all by myself and given them to no one! I wound up making 49 cookies... my boyfriend ate the 49th, leaving me with exactly 4 dozen =) Poifect. What is NOT poifect is the fact that Blogspot is giving me a hard time as far as organizing these pictures goes. So, I can't put little comments underneath each one like I usually do. Thus, here are my Thanksgiving cookies:

The turkeys and pumpkins were abolutely gigantic - 4.5"-5" across. The leaves were a bit smaller so there were a few more of them than anything else. But I loved them all!! Unfortunately, my colors were all a little off. The green and orange were both brighter than I was hoping for, and the tips of the turkey feathers were supposed to be red... they turned out more pink than anything. But it all worked out, I doubt anyone cared all that much, or even noticed. Hope you enjoy =)

Wedding Rehearsal Cookies

These were made for the same recipient as the Bridal Shower cookies. There were two cookies to a bag, 32 bags total. That's 64 cookies!! The little organza bags that I had ordered for them were baby blue (to match the bridesmaid dresses) with light pink crinkle paper in each of them to provide a little 'nest' for the cookies (the wedding flowers were pink). All in all, I think they turned out fantastic... despite the fact that it took me 11 1/2 straight hours to bake and decorate them all!

Mother's Day

I made these for my own mother because my father ordered a dozen =) At first I was at a loss of ideas regarding what shapes to make and how to decorate them. I wanted to stray away from the typical "flowers" theme that usually surrounds Mother's Day (especially considering I had just done flowers for my Easter batch). So these are the ones I came up with!

With the exception of the first image, these are at strange angles to show the texture of the sugar-rimmed hearts and to give you a better look at the swirly details of the "Mom"s. The cookie photography has greatly improved since the Bridal Shower batch!

Birthday Cookies

I apologize for having taken so long posting these. These were actually completed about two and a half weeks ago - things have been hectic around here! These are the birthday cookies that I did for a girl turning 17 who wanted her theme to be black, light pink, and hot pink.

These are little party hats... below is a closeup.

You can see that I added edible pearls on each of the polka dots.

Her name is Rachel so I included a few "R"s that kept with the color scheme:

Only two birthday cakes because they were huge!

Last but not least, I made two little gift-shaped cookies:

New Header!

I have finally started to personalize this boring website a little more! Special thanks to my boyfriend, Nick... that talented little graphic designer. He made me that logo at the top of the page that is also featured on my flyers. Yay!

My Easter/Spring Batch

I decided to hone my craft this year and create some springy Easter cookies to give to family rather than buy cards or flowers. There were four shapes, two being Easter-themed and two others being more springtime-themed. There were Easter eggs (which were large!), chicks hatching out of eggs, butterflies, and flowers.

I was able to make each egg different, which pleased me.

The chicks were definitely the plainest of all the cookies, but I just had to include them since I was lacking an Easter bunny. At the time, I had wished that I could have given them black eyes rather than white ones, but because these cookies were done for free, I didn't have it in me to make another batch of icing just for a few black dots. They were cute, anyway!

I'm disappointed with how small these became once I put them all together into one picture, but you can see the detail well enough. There were two butterflies of each color, and I was able to pipe different designs on each one. I picked my favorite of each color to show as an example =) I thought they were so ornate! These, along with the flowers, were the most difficult. Creating symmetrical designs with piping icing is a hard thing to master!

And the flowers wrap up my Easter cookies. My next batch is going to be in three weeks for a 17 year old's birthday party. She has requested that the color scheme be light pink, hot pink, and black. Should look amazing!

Wedding Shower Cookies

I made these cookies for a bridal shower in late March. The bride did not know that these cookies were being created, so I had the freedom to decorate them however I pleased. I decided to go with blue and white to represent the color of the wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses. The flowers in the wedding are various shades of pink, but I figured the cookies would look more elegant with as simple a color scheme as possible. My apologies for the less-than-stellar photography... I make good cookies, I don't take good pictures!

In the assortment there were wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, wedding cakes, wedding bells, and little parisols. I tried my hardest to make each one different, but with 40-some cookies to make, I wound up making a few repeats of my favorites.

While some of the cookies were basic icing-on-icing, other cookies featured little accessories like non pariel sprinkles, edible pearls, and coarse sanding sugar. When you have this many cookies to make, it's the little things that make a difference!
